Signing up for an account enables you to build your study progress, carry that progress across your various devices, and gives our language teachers a way to understand your individual language goals and preferences.
We take seriously the responsibility to limit the type of data we track and to keep your data private and secure.
What We Collect
In order to sign up, your email address is required so that we can get in contact with you about your account.
Students have the opportunity to customize their profile by supplying their first and last name, profile picture, and other biographical information. This data is meant for our language teachers to customize your experience and is not required.
As you study on the platform, we record your activity so that you can gauge your progress through our content. This includes your flashcards activity, lessons completed, media accessed, and assessments taken.
You will also be given the chance to build content libraries of your own by following, favoriting, or adding them to your own lists including your followed Pathways on Dashboard, Wordbank, Favorite Lessons, and Flashcard Decks.
Students will be able to post comments and ask questions on some content. This material is visible by other students on the platform and it's the student's responsibility not to expose personally identifiable information here.
Financial data such as credit card information is collected only before making a purchase and is not stored on our servers.
Subscribers of our Premium PLUS plan (See this article) will have numerous opportunities to interact with native teachers. This includes text, audio, images, and video which may be sent via our My Teacher Messenger feature, and written and spoken content submitted as part of our Assessments.
For marketing purposes, some data about your signup source, affiliate referral, and email engagement is tracked. We also use 3rd party tracking tools such as Google Analytics and FullStory to optimize our website.
Your IP address is included with every request you make on the platform in order to ensure compliance with our Terms of Use and to protect our servers.

Deleting Your Data
Your learning journey is complex. Often language study gets interrupted by life events or shifting priorities. If you stop learning with us, we'll keep your data safe and secure until you're ready to continue. Your hard work will be reflected just the way you left it. But if you decide to stop studying with us indefinitely, we'll honor your right to be forgotten.
All data listed above will be removed from our servers upon request. To make a request, follow these steps on the website:
- Go to My Account.
- Scroll to the bottom to find the Delete My Account link.
Accounts without payments attached can be deleted instantly from here. Other accounts will be prompted to email our customer support team who can accommodate the deletion process.
You may also request account deletion from within the app:
- Open the app and sign in with your account.
- Select the Menu button in the bottom right.
- Select Settings in the menu that slides in.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the Request Account Deletion button.
- Selecting Confirm will send us an email requesting to delete your account. We'll reply to you within 1-2 business days confirming your account deletion or request some additional information if needed.
Deleting your data in this way is not reversible. All data related to your account will be permanently deleted.
