Our stie gives you access to an enormous library of content. One common question we hear is: "Where should I start?"
When you're ready to begin studying, there are three approaches you can take:
- Follow recommendations on your Dashboard
- Browse the Lesson Library for a Pathway
- Search for a lesson
Following on Dashboard
Your Dashboard is the first page you see after logging in. The most important thing on your Dashboard is the collection of followed Pathways. This is where you curate the list of courses that you care about.
You will notice when you first sign up that your list of followed pathways isn't empty. Based on your learning level, we added our recommended pathway to your Dashboard. These pathways will teach you the most important parts of spoken language. They're not the only option, but they're a great place to get started.
The Study Now button jumps you to the next incomplete item in the pathway. Hit Study Now, take the next lesson or assessment, and keep progressing through the pathway. You can trust that language concepts will be introduced systematically and the assessments will reinforce what you learn.
You can also click the name of the pathway to see all the contents. Review old lessons, preview new lessons, or just see how far you've come!

Browsing the Lesson Library
The default pathway is our recommendation, but it's by no means the only option! Once you have gotten used to taking lessons, be sure to check out the Lesson Library by clicking Lessons > Lesson Library in the navigation bar or clicking the Add More Pathways button on your Dashboard.
The Lesson Library is a collection of all our published pathways. You'll find courses built around certain language topics, subjects of interest, or just alternative ways to study. If you've only experienced audio lessons on our site, you'll find many video pathways in the Lesson Library.
When you first open Lesson Library, the pathways will be filtered by your current level. These are all the pathways that our academic team thinks are appropriate for your current language level, so don't be afraid to try anything that looks interesting. (See also this article) Feel free to change the level at any time to find additional pathways. This will adjust which pathways are displayed—not your own learning level.
You'll see a number of options to filter the pathways. Want only video pathways? Only pathways which teach reading? Check and un-check the options to filter. You can also type a term into the search field to get a list of matching pathways.
Once you've found a pathway that interests you, keep track of it on your Dashboard! Simply open the pathway and click the + Follow button. This pathway will now appear on your Dashboard each time you open the site, tracking your progress and giving you quick access to the next lesson in line!
Searching for a Lesson
Some learners know exactly what they're looking for. If that describes you, you can search through our library of lessons quickly with Advanced Lesson Search.
Click the search button in the navigation bar to open the search field. Type anything you want to learn to see a list of lessons which include that term. Click a lesson to open it, or select the Advanced Lesson Search option to load more results.
On this page, you can make your search more specific by searching within only lesson vocabulary, dialogs, or other options.
